Case-Study: Mobile Autonomous Inspection

For the past few months, we teamed up with Ross Robotics, based in the UK, to develop a solution for autonomous inspection of ICE trains at the maintenance facilities of Deutsche Bahn.

 

The project involved an AI-based computer vision solution to detect and report anomalies in the undercarriage of the train, which was developed by Gestalt Robotics. The AI system is coupled with a modular mobile robot that navigates autonomously through the inspection pit, which was designed specifically for this purpose by our partners from Ross Robotics.

The collaboration has already yielded a prototype that has been validated in one of Deutsche Bahn's workshops in the Berlin area. This work was developed with the guidance of DB mindbox, the technology innovation wing of Deutsche Bahn, under a 100-day PoC project.

We look forward to strengthening our cooperation with the wonderful and enthusiastic team from Ross Robotics to take our shared development to the next levels of technology readiness. Furthermore we appreciate the continued support of Deutsche Bahn and DB mindbox in this ongoing effort.
