Project start MENTOR: Sensor head for locating glass objects

The companies involved in the MENTOR project recently met for the official kick-off meeting. The meeting was an opportunity for the project participants to share their visions and goals and to initiate the project. The meeting emphasised that MENTOR aims to optimise automation in the chemical and optical industries by developing practical solutions to problems such as inspection, material recognition and signal processing.

The companies agree that automation technology continues to offer important potential to increase productivity and efficiency in these industries. By working together in the MENTOR project, they are confident that they can develop innovative solutions that will enable companies to work more flexibly and effectively.

Involved in the project are Basler for their technical expertise in sensor technology and their view of the customer, Dioptic as experts in optical measurement technology, SpheronVR for mechatronics and miniaturisation of sensor technology and Gestalt Robotics for robotics, laboratory automation and AI-supported image processing. In addition, BASF SE takes on an advisory role to describe laboratory-related problems in the chemical industry to the consortium and to realistically steer the result of the project towards usability.

The kick-off meeting was a great success and the MENTOR team is ready to work together to achieve their goals. We are looking forward to further updates and progress in this exciting project!

A detailed elaboration of the project plan will follow soon.
