Start of the project “Model Range Expansion" as part of "E-Check"

We are very pleased to announce the start of the project “Model Range Expansion" (Baureihenerweiterung) within the overall project "E-Check" for DB Fernverkehr AG. Together with our partner infraView, we are developing extended #AI models for the exterior inspection and maintenance of the ICE series 1,2 and T.

The train is scanned once completely digitally and all upcoming inspection steps are recorded. Overall, a degree of automation of 95 percent is achieved in the visual inspection. The advantage of the digital scan is that standardised activities in running gear inspections and re-inspections are partially automated, thus enabling more capacity in maintenance.

The long-term goal of Gestalt Robotics and its cooperation partners Strama Group, infraView and DB E.C.O. Group is to further develop the "E-Check" project into a modular intelligent maintenance process, in short "Smart Assisted Maintenance" (SAM). With SAM, it should be possible to map all maintenance processes from data acquisition to digital inspection using AI to robotics for automated supply and disposal of water on the train. Five "E-Check" plants are planned across Germany, in which one to one and a half tracks are to be cleared per night.

"E-Check" represents a milestone for digitalised maintenance. We are pleased to be able to develop the inspection procedures of the future with this project together with our partners.
